Smart appliances had become rather popular products in 2017, and it looks like we can expect smart ceiling lights in 2018. With the rise of technology in households around the globe, having smart-controlled appliances only makes sense.
Before CES even took place, GE already started teasing about their latest light lineup. Although this in itself is not entirely new, they do have a brand-new, wi-fi connected ceiling fixture that stands out. It will allow you to control brightness or even change the color of lights remotely.
Additionally, each individual light will have its very own microphone and speaker. This will make it a lot like having an Amazon Echo Dot with each and every light. You will be able to control all of these settings via app or voice control.
GE says which assistant you want it’s up to you. Although not every AI voice assistant is compatible, they offer you a choice between Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. GE has also announced intentions to make their products compatible with Apple HomeKit and Siri, but this is still for the future.
Although there are a few things GE needs to figure out, this interesting product just may redefine what we expect from smart appliances.
