People have fallen in love with Amazon’s sassy voice assistant, Alexa. The AI program has found herself in many different places in our lives from our speakers to our alarm clocks. Her newest appearance may be a little more unexpected.
There is now a jacket compatible with Alexa. Sure, it might not be the new tech breakthrough that anyone asked for but keep an open mind because it has a lot of exciting features.
Ministry of Supply, a Boston-based clothing company founded by three friends at MIT, aims to bring cutting-edge technology into fashion. They usually specialize in things such as high-performance stretch shirts or 3D-printed fabrics, but one of their newest products in a little more tech-savvy.
They just released a new thermostat-equipped Mercury Intelligent Heated Jacket that will allow users to customize their jacket-wearing experience. Using both internal and external sensors, the jacket will provide the optimal temperature for you. While it won’t have Alexa built in, it will be able to connect with Alexa using an Amazon device and an echo skill.
This is the company’s first wearable technology (as in it is an article of clothing that will run on electricity). This is only the beginning, and we should expect some exciting things from Ministry of Supply in the future.
