Microsoft has officially announced the Cortana Intelligence Institute. They intend to research and develop new ways to enhance the user experience of their AI virtual assistant.
Cortana is one of the more well-known AIs on the market today. While we all have heard about the clever sayings or have even picked up on the subtle Halo references, Microsoft is ready to give Cortana a more professional approach.
The creation of the Cortana Intelligence Institute will allow individuals to research and experiment with Cortana. Although they intend to research a multitude of different fields, how Cortana relates to the workplace will be a top priority. This is thought to be a response to Amazon’s steps to make Alexa more business-friendly.
Microsoft wants to discover new ways that companies can use their AI assistant to increase productivity or assist with more business transactions. They also want to place a strong focus on enhancing the way that AIs can create dialogue and socialize with users.
The institute will recruit students and faculty from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia to help with their endeavors. We can expect that their work will significantly enhance what we should expect from AIs.
