AI Chatbots are becoming a popular way for both the workspace and recreation. The AI programs which are able to hold up rather complex conversations are becoming all the rage in the tech world.
While AI Chatbots are rather impressive with communication, they have always been criticized for lacking that human component. By that, critics argue that their lack of conveys emotions remains obstacle when trying to blur the lines between man and machine.
Software developer, Eugenia Kuyda, is trying to break these barriers and inject emotion into AI conversation. Replika, her AI Chatbot, s aimed to be more like a friend than a computer program. She wanted Replika to stand out against other popular AIs so has gone above and beyond to make her chatbot relatable and expressive.
Replika has become a rather big hit with people as they chat with the app like they would an online friend. It even learns to interact like the user as time goes on and tries to express more than the average AI.
Kuyda and her team will be releasing the underlying code to her AI chatbot under an open source license so that other people will be able to build off of her creation. This means that we should be expecting a lot more friendly chatbots like Replika in the future.
