5 Step Amazon Echo Setup Guide

We’re living in a period where AI is not only possible, but also rapidly becoming popular like the Amazon Echo. However, in order to use such a high-tech device, you’ll need help with the Amazon Echo Setup. Utilizing the Amazon Echo is a great way to start familiarizing yourself with home AI assistants, and it’s widely useful too. The Amazon Echo is one of the top AI assistant products available on the market, and it’s produced by the world’s leading commerce companies. Supported by those funds and the prestigious background, it’s easy to see why the Amazon Echo is a great investment.

It may be a little intimidating if you’re not much of a tech-savvy person. But don’t worry, it’s not as difficult as it seems, and we’re here to help you with this Amazon Echo setup guide.

Setup Amazon Echo

1. Location

The first thing you want to do is find a good spot to place your Echo.

It’s not a big piece of furniture, so it should be easy to locate a nice empty space on a table somewhere. I don’t recommend leaving it on the floor as that makes it more prone to accidents. The most ideal location for your Amazon Echo would be at the center of the room so that it can capture audio coming from every point. Keep in mind that the Echo is connected to a power adapter, so just make sure it can reach a power outlet.

2. Alexa App

The next thing you need to do is download the free Alexa Application on any mobile device. The application is available on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Amazon App Store. You can find it instantly by searching “Alexa.”

Alternatively, you can download the application on a Wi-Fi enabled computer by visiting this link: https://alexa.amazon.com and following the installation instructions after download.

3. Echo Setup App

Now that you have the necessities to get the appliance in action, let’s get the ball rolling. Turn on your Echo and open the Alexa application on your mobile device or computer.

On the application, head into settings (found in the left navigation panel), and select set up a new device. If you previously connected this device, simply tap Update Wi-Fi instead.

On your Echo, press and hold the action button. This will trigger the Echo to flash an orange light on its ring, meaning it’s seeking your device’s connection. Shortly after, it will connect to your device via the Alexa app.

On the app, a list of Wi-Fi networks will pop up. Choose your preferred network and tap connect to link your Echo to Wi-Fi.

4. Give it a go!

Your Echo device is now ready! Talk to Alexa by speaking the trigger command “Alexa,” and her colors will flash, indicating that she’s listening.

If you’d like to change Alexa’s wake word from “Alexa” to something else, you can do so by going into settings on the Alexa app, selecting your Alexa device, and tapping on Wake Word.

As you can see, there isn’t much to the Amazon Echo setup, and the entire process can probably be completed within a few minutes. It’s great to have something as futuristic as an AI assistant, but for it to be useful and easy to set up? It’s a dream come true!

5. Common issues when connecting to Wi-Fi

  • I can’t find my network when connecting to Wi-Fi.

    1. Tap the rescan button to scan for available networks again.
    2. As an alternative, you can tap the “Add a network” button to connect manually.

  • I can see my Wi-Fi network but my device won’t connect to it.
